Travel insurance: medical assistance and peace of mind wherever you are
For family holidays and for frequent business travellers. Medical assistance, cancellation, baggage and repatriation, with limits suited to your destination.
Your EHIC and your credit card are not always enough
The European Health Insurance Card gives access to public healthcare in other European countries on the same terms as their citizens, but does not cover private healthcare or repatriation. Outside Europe, and especially in the United States, a hospital stay can be very expensive.
Credit cards often include some insurance, but with low limits and strict conditions. A well-chosen travel policy covers what really matters.
Worth knowing
If you travel several times a year, an annual multi-trip policy is usually cheaper and saves you buying one for each trip.
The cover worth having
Medical assistance
Medical, hospital and surgical expenses abroad, with limits suited to the destination.
Repatriation
Medical transport and repatriation of the insured person and their travel companions.
Cancellation
The costs of a trip you cannot take for valid reasons.
Baggage
Loss, theft or damage to baggage and delays in its delivery.
Curtailment
Returning early because of a serious event at home.
Liability
Damage caused to others during the trip.
Specific cover depends on the policy and insurer chosen. We set out in writing what each proposal includes.
What we review before recommending a policy
We compare the leading insurers and review the points that, on the day of a claim, decide what you will be paid.
- Medical expenses limit. It should be sufficient for the destination, especially the United States.
- Cancellation reasons. Which ones are accepted and whether they include work-related reasons.
- Pre-existing conditions. How the policy treats existing medical conditions.
- Activities. Adventure sports or skiing, which are often excluded.
- Trip length. Maximum days per trip on annual policies.
Your family's insurance, with the same rigour as your company's
Many of our private clients are business owners and executives who already trust us with their company. We review their personal insurance with the same technical rigour and, if a claim arises, our own claims department, supported by the Group's Legal Department, Trebia Abogados, defends them before the insurer until they are paid.
What clients usually ask us
Do I need travel insurance in Europe?
The European Health Insurance Card covers public healthcare, but not private healthcare, repatriation or cancellation. Travel insurance completes that protection.
What medical limit do I need for the United States?
A high limit is advisable, because healthcare costs are very high. We advise you according to the trip.
Does it cover business trips?
It depends on the policy. Some personal policies exclude business travel; there are specific policies for it, which can be taken out through the company.
When should I buy cancellation cover?
When you book the trip or a few days afterwards, because cancellation reasons are only covered if they arise after the policy is taken out.
